Friedrich Klose: Prelude and Double Fugue for Organ and Winds

Friedrich Klose: Prelude and Double Fugue for Organ and Winds
Friedrich Klose (1862-1942) was a German composer best known perhaps for his opera, Islebill (1903). His Praeludium un Doppelfuge fuer Orgel und Blaser was composed in 1907 and was given the subtile In faithful memory of master Anton Bruckner.

There are no direct quotes from Bruckner's music, but according to the notes (written by Klose) contained in the Ambitus CD, the music is based on a theme that Bruckner played for the composer at the Protestant church in Bayreuth. A transcription of the work by August Stradal is offered below as well.

My thanks to conductor, Gerd Schaller for this information.
