January 23rd: The Symphony No. 4After a day of rest, the Bruckner cycle continued with a strong account of the Symphony No. 4. As is his custom, Barenboim chose the 1878/80 version in the edition as prepared by Robert Haas. What is becoming increasingly notable is Barneboim's use of dynamics and the Staatskapelle Berlin's ability to offer up extra volume when summoned by their music director.
