A Premier Performance for Bruckner in the Dominican Republic

The first performance of the music of Anton Bruckner in the Dominican Republic took place on Sunday, December 13th of 2009. Bruckner's early Requiem was performed as part of a memorial service for Elsa Jacchia (1912 - 2008). The performance took place in the historic Regina Angelorum, one of the earliest churches constructed in the New World. The performers included the "In-Art" Instrumental Ensemble and the Grupo vocal Matisses (Pura Tayson, director) conducted by Susana Acra-Brache. The service was planned and the performance commissioned by Massimiliano Wax in memory of his grandmother. Members of the family (from all parts of the world) attended this private service. John and Marjory Berky and William Carragan were invited to attend. A limited edition recording is available of both the Requiem and the Te Deum.
