Listening to Bruckner and some wines to go with it
"Which wine would you recommend as an accompaniment for Anton Bruckner‘s 6th symphony?" The reply was: "I contacted the concert pianist and wine merchant Sona Shaboyan. She recommends to serve a suitable wine for each of the four movements. For the monumental first movement a sturdy Bordeaux offers itself. The Adagio of the 2. movement radiates a certain grandeur and melancholy. Tip: an elegant Pinot Noir from New Zealand. For the vivacious, rhythmically striking 3. movement a fresh vital sparkling wine is fitting. The 4. movement with its contrasts and changing moods can be combined with a Syrah wine not too rich in tannins from the Rhone valley." My thanks to Felix Thomann for providing this story. |
