Day Five

The day was primarily devoted to touring the City of Linz. We began with a tram ride up to Poestlingberg and its scenic overview of the city. We continued by visiting the Brucknerhaus concert hall (on the banks of the Danube), the school where where Bruckner was given teaching instructions, the new Cathedral (where Bruckner's E Minor was premiered), and the Parrish Church and the Old Cathedral (Anten Dom) where Bruckner served as an organist. The tour was also given access to the Bruckner Stiege Museum which is located on the stairs leading up to the Alten Dom's organ loft.

After some free time for shopping and lunch (and in my case some business meetings and newspaper interviews), we headed back to Saint Florian for a special tour reception given by Dr. Klaus Laczika and then an organ concert at the St. Florian Basilika where the audience could view the guest organists in action via a high definition screen. We even got to see what their feet were busily doing during their performance!
