Bruckner and the Third Reich
The appropriation of Anton Bruckner into the cultural web of the Third Reich has been studied on numerous occasions. Given the horrors of that epoch, the use of Bruckner's music would certainly invite numerous studies, explanations and perhaps even some futile rationalizations. This section of my website is not to be construed as an exhaustive study of that damaging association but is designed to serve as a place where some of the most tangible essays and images of that association can be seen. To provide some background into this cultural / political phenomenon, I have added an essay by Professor Benjamin Korstvedt as the first item in this section My thanks to Gilles Houle for gathering much of this information. |
