In the early 1950s, there was a sci-fi anthology television series called, "Tales of Tomorrow." It boasted such luminaries as Paul Newman, Rod Steiger, Robert Alda, Veronica Lake, Jack Warden, and many others. The theme music was a recording of the opening of Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. Other recordings were also incorporated into each episode such as Vaughan Williams' 6th Symphony (Stokowski/NYPO), Neptune from Holst's The Planets, Franck's Le Chasseur Maudit, Britten's Peter Grimes and believe it or not, Bruckner's 8th! A brief excerpt from the first movement of the Symphony No. 8 can be heard in the episide, "The Little Black Bag" as the program returns after a commercial.
