The light-hearted BBC production tells the story of British Liberal Party Leader, Jeremy Thorpe and the incompetent cover-up of his attempted murder of his past male lover. In the first episode, Thorpe (played by Hugh Grant) is seen listening to and commenting on the Scherzo to Bruckner's Symphony No. 9.
