Symphony No. 4 in E Flat Major
The Symphony No 4 exists in several versions and editions. The symphony was first completed in 1874. It was revised between 1878 and 1880 and various versions of the symphony circulated thereby causing some variations in the editions prepared by Leopold Nowak and Robert Haas. Both of these editions contain the well-known "hunting scherzo." In 1878, Bruckner prepared a second "Volksfest" Finale. In 1888, Bruckner returned to the score to prepare it for publication by Albert Gutmann. That version has been prepared in a new critical edition by Benjamin Korstvedt. Gustav Mahler also edited the score for his performances.

NOTE: In the 1878 autograph score, there is a brief segment in the Andante that was crossed out by Bruckner and never published. It has been transcribed by Juan Cahis.
