This is a rare example of a biographical sketch of Anton Bruckner written in English while the composer was still alive! The book is entitled "Masters of German Music" and was published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1894. While the "masters" are Brahms, Bruch, Rheinberger, Theodor Kirchner, Carl Reinicke, Woldemar Bargeil and Clara(!) Schumann, the "minor masters" are Heinrich von Herzogenberg, Bruckner, Heinrich Hofmann and Felix Draeseke. The author of the book was the London music critic, J. A. Fuller Maitland.
