Complete Bruckner Edition: Markus Poschner / Naxos 18 CD box set
The complete Bruckner Edition that has been produced by Capriccio Recordings over the past several months will be released as a boxed set this September. It will be released in conjunction with Bruckner's 200th anniversary.
But there are a few twists in this story. First, the set will be released on the Naxos label, since Naxos was involved in the production of the set since its inception.
Secondly, and this is not very happy news - the set will be missing one of the alternate movements that will be part of the New Bruckner Edition. The missing movement will be the "Alternate Adagio" (1887-1889) to the symphony No. 8. The reason for the unfortunate omission is that the printed parts to this movement were not ready when the box set went into production.
BUT I HAVE A SPECIAL OFFER!
For anyone who reserves a copy of the Naxos box set through me, I will include a special CDR that will include performances of the following:
-The Overture in G Minor (1863 version)
-The Overture in G Minor (1862 version)
-The "Alternate Adagio" from the Symphony No. 8 (Gault/Kawasaki edition)
-The Symphonic Prelude (attributed to Bruckner)
-The Four Orchestral Pieces
-The March in E Flat Major
By including this CDR, the set is not only a complete set of symphonies but a set of Bruckner's COMPLETE ORCHESTRA MUSIC!
The suggested retail price for this set is $99.95, but I will be offering it at $79.95 plus postage. Release date is September 9th.
NOTE: For readers living outside the United States I will offer the extra CD alone for a price of US$34.00 postpaid ($19.00 is postage cost).
