Lancer Quadrille No. 3
The Lancer-Quadrilles are like nothing else in the Bruckner canon. This is my transcription of Bruckner's Lancer Quadrille No. 3 Originally for piano the title makes one picture squares of mounted riders whose horses perform intricate movements. With that in mind, I wrote this arrangement of the 3rd of 4 quadrilles, giving it a loud, raucous circus sound by voicing the first clarinet in the highest register. I'd like to apologize to my fellow bassoonists for a part that is neither challenging nor melodically rewarding, but considering the bassoon parts in his symphonies, at least it's short. If you perform this arrangement I would appreciate hearing from you. Comments, copies of programs, recordings and reviews can be sent to: Ericgoldie2@yahoo.com |
