November, 2022: Wolfgang Sawallisch / Vienna S.O. / Classical & R CD

Here is a rare glimpse into the world of Japanese pirate CDs. The label is called "Classical & R Productions of America." The CD states that the disk was "Made in the USA." In reality, it was produced in Japan for the Japanese domestic market. Some of these labels were very prolific. I use the term were since the production of these CDs has waned in the past few years. This particulate label had a very small catalog of recordings in spite of the fact that the catalog number for this release is RR-1070. It seems that everything was intended to mislead. But the recording appears to be accurate. Wolfgang Sawallisch leads the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in the Symphony No. 1. The concert was recorded on June 12, 1985.
