February, 2023: Symphony No. 6: Cesare Cantieri / South German Philharmonic

This Point Classics CD was released back in 1994. It was one of the first CD releases of a collection of recordings that were offered out by Alfred Scholz back in the late 1960s. They appeared on a number of labels around the world - often credited to conductors and orchestras that simply did not exist. While most of the Scholz Bruckner recordings have now been linked to the actual performers, this recording of the Bruckner Symphony No. 6 is still a discographic mystery. This wonderful performance is unique in another way - It is one of the fastest performances of the Symphony No. 6 ever recorded. If anyone can link this performance to its actual performers, a reward will be offered.
