Click to enlarge For many years, Radio Nederland, the foreign broadcast service of the combined Netherlands radio stations, offered a series of transcription discs to foreign broadcasters. One such series was devoted to the annual Holland Festival concerts. These were usually two-LP sets containing 4 half-hour programs. In 1964, Herbert von Karajan and the Vienna Philharmonic performed at the Holland Festival and one of the transcription discs for that year contained the Adagio from their performance of the Bruckner Symphony No. 7. That transcription is our featured release for this month.
